Baran Dance partners with local organizations ourBRIDGE for Kids and Refugee Support Services to provide free dance classes and wellness workshops specifically designed for children and women from displaced or underserved communities. Our outreach program, Beyond Baran Dance, fosters self-expression and confidence through movement, especially for those who may have experienced trauma or instability in their journeys. By creating a fun, safe and welcoming environment, Baran Dance helps participants explore their creativity, connect with others across language barriers, and build a sense of belonging in their new community. We emphasize collaboration over perfection, encouraging participants to take ownership of their bodies and stories through movement. Baran Dance believes that dance is not only a form of artistic expression, but also an act of empowerment and inclusion.
We MOVE to move YOU. Not only on an emotional level, but to take action around important social issues that impact our community. Baran Dance partners with nonpartisan organizations such as The Center for Artistic Activism and North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) to take big steps in creative ways towards social justice on a local, regional and national scale. Through movement, dialogue, crafting and collaboration as well as focused performances and workshops, we encourage voter activation and spark change from the ground up, especially for new voters or historically marginalized communities. In every form, no matter what, we keep moving forward.
